"Phone is disabled try again in 1 hour" after screen change
This happens to me on a regular basis. I get a phone in, its working fine except for a broken screen. I change the screen (Disconnect battery of course) put it back together and BANG! Phone is disabled, try again in 1 hour. I did not enter any passcodes at all. I turn it on, after the apple logo I get “Try again in 1 hour” That in itself is only 1/2 the problem. An hour never comes! It will count down from 1 hour, usually one minute doesn’t equal 1 minute, and it usually stops somewhere is the 40’s. Not always, but it does stop somewhere. So here I am, for example, stuck at “Try again in 47 minuets” and 5 min later “Try again in 47 minuets” and then 10 min later “Try again in 47 minuets..”
This has happened at least twice to me. I actually just finished working on another phone as I type this, and although its now down to “Try again in 40 minuets” I am not expecting it to get all the way to zero and let me enter a passcode, because it hasn’t in the past.
WTF is going on? What am I doing wrong? Or is it me at all? Is there a way to prevent this from happening during a repair? I am getting a lot of upset customers from this.
P.S. I just checked it. Its been at least 3-4 minuets, if not more. Still “Try again in 40 minuets.”

I am having the exact same issue I skips the 1 min 5 min delay etc and goes straight for an hour! But then doesn’t count down correctly! I have a feeling it’s too do with disconnecting the battery. Anyone found a fix for this issue?
Thanks

I have an iPhone 7 that had a badly damaged screen and home button. The home button was cracked as well as the screen shattering. I ordered a screen replacement. Hooked it up including the damaged home button. I got a flashing white apple logo. The solution to try for the flashing logo was to hook the screen up without the home button connected. I did that and now I get the iPhone is disabled message for X number of minutes. It is counting down but the date and time on the home screen are off by several days. It thinks it's 12/29/2019 when it's 1/2/2020. I need to configure wifi when I get pass the authentication screen. It also is giving me a searching for Cellular service. So I'm not surprised the date and time are not correct on the Home Screen. After it counted down, I did get to a screen where I could enter a passcode. It timed out before I could get the correct passcode. It started a 2nd 15 minute countdown sequence. I'm hoping I can get back to the point where I can enter the correct passcode.

After countdown expired, I attempted to open on of the push notifications on the home screen and I was prompted for a passcode. I entered the correct passcode and got the the home screen with all apps. the phone connected to wifi and the correct time was able to sync. Now If I can figure out how to enable a floating home button now that the home button is broken.
