Dropped 3GS, Had screen repaired, still have problems with signal
I recently (sept) dropped my iPhone 3GS and broke my screen. Before this I had been having alot of trouble with my signal going from 3G to edge to none to some service to no service.
This could be even if the phone sat still on a table or counter. So when I sent it to the iPhone doctor I asked him to look at my antenna, he said their was nothing wrong.
I looked at this No Service iPhone 3G issue
And a few others, some solutions I got were tighten this screw making sure it's snug to the iPhone frame.
Replace the iPhone dock, but I also read that the iPhone docks online have bad antenna assemblies.
My wifi antenna wasnt effected, but I can sit my phone next to another 3G and watch the signal show on mine and they will have a steady 5 3G
So do I replace the dock? Are they different based on batch of iPhone 3GS ? Can I use small tools or should I order these plastic ones ?
Thank u all

so i replaced this with a part bought on amazon, and now instead of poor signal I'm getting 0 signal. The charging and the music and mic are working fine, any thoughts ? The speaker is actually way better then the one that came with the original doc.

and your "springs" make contact with the bezel? screws on tight enough?

see we were just talking about that down there no one had any idea what i was talking about, so what are you talking about now if you didn't know what i was talking about down there?

i thought in your previous comments you were talking about screws and the bezel which was a iphone 4 solution... so.. iphone 3gs has cable/connector 7 which has 2 gold wings/prongs/springs that make contact with the metal frame of the phone. that's what i'm talking about.it is possible to get a dodgy part...
try resetting network/carrier settings? remove sim, clean it. airplane on and off. hard reset...try all the usual

one new problem and an old problem re-inventing itself. So like i had mentioned i had a large crack in my iphone screen and had sent it off to be repair. When i got it back my home button isn't as responsive as it should be. I have to hit it a couple times for it to act, and double tap ? forget about it your there all day trying to get the ipod controls to show themselves.
the other problem as mentioned below is i replaced the docking connection and still it has problems with the cellular signal. I started searching around the net and i found a diagram that actually shows another part of the phone is labeled as antenna is this true? They point to a point at the top of the phone that owuld be under the sim card slot on the logic board
