MacBook air won't turn on

On my 2012 13” Macbook air, when I press the power button, it won’t respond. Wheb I plugged in a charger it turned on. Also, I unplugged and plugged the battery back in and now the Macbook air won’t show the battery charge indicator. Also in system information, it doesn’t show the battery. Now, when I have the charger plugged in, the led on the charger won’t turn on. It will only work if I plug it into another laptop and plug it back into the air and it will only show green. Please help.
