What is the SSD I/O speed as benchmarked by Black Magic disk test?

Would love to know what the SSD with the new T2 controller benchmarks.

Is this at the same level as the iMac Pro, which was something crazy like 3GB/s read, and 2.5GB/s write?

Good question! We'll need to wait until someone gets there hands on a unit and runs the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test as well as post the results like here Post your SSD benchmarks

Blackmagic reports: 850MB/s write and 2.4GB/s read on my Mac mini 2018, 256GB, i7/Turbo

por

Write:

128 GB -> 600 MB/s

256 GB -> 1300 MB/s

512 GB -> 1900 MB/s

100 0GB -> 2600 MB/s

Read: all > 2000 MB/s

Reason for speed increase:

'Larger sizes normally means more flash chips and they can be written to in a parallel fashion.'

I saw it too. Do you happen to know what "home theater" mixer is - he also mentions it in his review.

por

He means a surround sound amplifier/receiver. He's an audio guy so he calls it a mixer instead.

We ran Geekbench 4 a number of times, averaging 4,769 and 14,202 on the single and multi-core tests. That compares well to the late 2012 Mac mini with an i7 processor —the previous multi-core champ —running at 2.3GHz which pulled 3300 and 11480 on the single/multi-core tests.

This also compares very well to the 2014 dual-core 3GHz Core i7 which was the previous single-core champ with 3705 and 7062 single and multi-core performance respectively. Both of these tests put the new low-end Mac mini ahead of all previous models in the family.

@malhal Geekbench has been the industry standard for testing speed for at least a couple of decades.

por

Oh really in which decade did they add SSD speed testing lol

Since someone threw CPU tests in here, here's my results this morning. After a couple of months of use and a 32GB RAM upgrade:

5877 - Single-Core Score

26934 - Multi-Core Score

Geekbench 4.3.2 for Mac OS X x86 (64-bit)

BlackMagic scores are pretty much what they were when new.

After a couple of months, I'm very happy with the mini.

Model Name: Mac mini

Model Identifier: Macmini8,1

Processor Name: Intel Core i7

Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz

Number of Processors: 1

Total Number of Cores: 6

L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB

L3 Cache: 12 MB

Memory: 32 GB

Boot ROM Version: 220.230.16.0.0 (iBridge: 16.16.2542.0.0,0)

I did the RAM upgrade myself, following the iFixit (and other YouTube) instructions. I do recommend getting the iFixIt tool kit.
