My battery is dying really quick. What could be the issue?

All of a sudden, my battery started to die really quickly. My battery used to last around 6-7 hours and now only lasts 2.5 hours on normal use. My Macbook is an year old. Apple Genius Guy says that there is liquid damage but my laptop is working just fine (other than the battery, of course). I even reset it. Still the battery life is the same 2.5 hours. Tried SMC and PRAM reset, no effect. I have attached coconutBattery’s screenshots.

Can you please help me I installed the battery into my macbook pro 2014 a few months ago and everything was fine and now it's only operating at 50% capacity and i'm getting less than 4 hours life on it. I have tried a battery calibration, a SMC and a PRAM reset and i still get a "service recommended" warning on the battery

Can you help me please?

Battery values are excellent, charging power seems to be flawless. I believe battery is innocent here and something is draining it beyond the acceptable..it might be a software or a hardware issue. To check what’s happening on software side, find activity monitor in utility folder inside applications folder. Launch it and select from menu to list “all processes” and see if there’s something using an unusual and unjustified amount of Cpu. Check what’s the average value of Cpu used during a normal session to see if anything is keeping it busy beyond the ordinary. If Cpu stays below 20% on average and battery gets drained at the speed you indicate something might be absorbing power on the hardware side.

Let’s do some testing of your battery. Complete the guide below; upload 2 screenshots to your existing question, one with the MagSafe adapter in and one with with the MagSafe adapter out.

@mishragaurav Your full charge capacity is lower then your design capacity, it’s time for a new battery.

@ajcooke01 hi, thanks for taking time and effort to help me out. It really means a lot.

I have added the screenshots.

@ajcooke01 I agree battery is below full design capacity, but I (strongly) disagree a battery with such figures needs replacement..any battery after a few charging cycles is not 100% and every battery above 80% capacity can be considered good enough. Please include that in your battery testing guide ;)

por

@arbaman I have a hunch that it is just a crappy battery. Design capacity good or not, I think that is the scenario.

por

@ajcooke01 I have a hunch you have plenty of good will but a bit more of experience might help :) We all have a tendency to see troubles we know more often than the ones we don't have a clue about. That's the reason why doctors discourage people from self diagnosing =;)

As you can see by the pictures the battery is fairly degraded almost 30% less than normal also Is this battery aftermarket? I hope this can help

Update (10/30/2018)

OK, thanks thats what I needed to know did it start doing this after an update because this could be a software issue with mac OS and just an FYI apple will always say there is water damage because the sensors are set off even by a little bit of mist but you could try backing it up and resetting it

Have a closer look, you're mistaken.

por

it says battery health is 62 percent and design capacity is 96.9% so that's where I got that, also have you tried backing up mac os and restoring it this could help the problem

por

The battery is original and out-of-the-box. As I told you, I bought it last September. The system is fairly new.

por

@ifixiphone David, I have restored and backed up the same but to no avail.

por

Oh sorry I didn't see that you already said that sorry
