Changed logic board on my iPhone 6, 16gb from an iPhone 6, 64gb.

I changed logic board on my iPhone 6, 16gb from a iPhone 6, 64gb but now I have issues with the battery draining. I have tried different things in the phone to turn off different things on settings and I have also tried switching to a different battery that I know for sure is a good battery. Does anybody know what the problem is?

You mentioned the phone worked fine without the bracket on. It is known that long-screw-damage-in-the-making causes battery drain, as the damage to the board causes electrons to flow to cause further damage, (or something along those lines). I would use your phone without the bracket in place, but be very careful - make sure you don't damage the board while taking it out, as this is a sign of long screw damage and you could break through the traces on the board

So you mean that I should not put on the bracket and use the phone just like that ?

Yes - the bracket just supports the cables in case you drop from a large height and the cables get bumped. Your phone will function perfectly well without them

I put the bracket on with 4 screws. Left out the long screw. It works really good No battery drain. Thanks for the help.

No problem! I'm glad it works

Where did you get the 64GB logic board; do you know for certain that it worked perfectly, without a battery drain issue?

If you don’t know for certain, then there may have been an issue with the 64GB logic board (and probably why is was available for sale in the first place).

If this is a logic board you owned and are certain of it’s condition, then I would double check your work and look for tears in the flexes or damage to the connectors. Another thing to try is to disconnect all of the connectors except the battery, Dock and screen (LCD & Digitizer, do not connect the FCAM & Sensor). Fully charge the battery and then test how long the phone lasts with full display brightness and the screen not turning off. Compare this to a similar setup with the 16GB logic board, they should be the same, or close enough. If the 64GB board works just as well, then add one flex at a time until the problem reappears and replace the defective component. I would start with the Home Button, Rear Camera, Volume & Power Button, Front Camera and Sensors.

I know that it worked cause I got it from an iPhone I already had. But I will try your method. Appreciate your answer.

por

@refectio I have tried the method. When I connect there is nothing wrong the battery is normal. But when I put on the metal shield and screws over the screen connectors then battery issue comes back. What do you think?

por

Check to see if the bracket isn't contacting some exposed traces on the flex. Also, look inside the screw standoffs. If you incorrectly put the screws back in place (long screw where a short one should go), it is possible to damage the logic board under them. Look up "Long Screw Damage for images as a comparison.

If I use the phone without the bracket is that a big issue or could cause more damage? I know that the bracket has a purpose but maybe its possible to use without it?

You may want to try restoring your phone to it’s factory settings just to be sure it is not a software issue. Back up your phone before doing so.
