After screen repair 3D touch is very difficult to activate

I replaced the OLED screen on my iphone today and after turning it back on everything seems to be working fine except 3D touch. I checked in the settings and it is enabled and it was set to medium, which is what its been set to when i first got it i guess. 3D touch is now very difficult to activate even when the setting is on light.

Having it set to light i still need to push harder than i used to when it was set to medium. but i can activate it when it is set to light. Medium and firm are both impossible to activate without pushing so hard i feel like id crack the screen.

All i did was replace the screen.. and i used the repair guide from this website to do it. Everything went smooth. Any ideas why this might be happening?

Did you buy this replacement screen from iFixit?

No, i purchased it on ebay. It sold as a new screen assembly. Should i return it and buy another just to eliminate the possibility of the screen being the issue?

Mine stopped working after having the screen replaced and I eventually figured out that instead of touching it with the tip of your finger, lay the entire pad of your thumb over it gently. Cover as much of the icon with your thumb print as possible. 3D Touch started working again. It’s not an intuitive gesture since we are always trying to be as accurate as possible with our touches. You need to touch as much of the icon as possible.

Since you have bought it off eBay we might have found our problem, low quality replacement parts. eBay is where all the scammers tend to hang out and I would not be surprised if you were scammed. I would try and return that screen you got from eBay.

iFixit sells a replacement screen assembly but it is definitely not inexpensive. The reason why iFixit’s products tend to be on the expensive side is because fixit rigorously tests their parts before they are put out on the store. These products also come with a lifetime warranty that covers failures and issues like the one you are having.
