Are Touch ID screen flex cables the same on the 6S Plus and 6 Plus?

Hello everyone, so recently I was supposed to replace my friends iPhone 6S Plus screen. Everything went smoothly during testing, but when unplugging the flex cables, I accidentally tore the touch ID screen flex cable. So, the home button will not respond to presses or touch. The home button itself is fine, just the flex that connects to the screen is torn. I was wondering if it was possible to take the metal shield off of an old iPhone 6 Plus screen and use it, or are they not interchangeable? I would imagine they are because besides 3D touch and a spec bump, the phones are basically the same, right?

Thank You!

The connectors aren’t the same size so no, they are not compatible. the other issue is that while the 6 Plus Link flex is accessible and replaceable, the 6S Plus Link Flex is embedded in the backlight and is not really meant to be user-replaceable.

Some vendors actually sell the backlight with embedded flex but not iFixit. There are some videos online of people changing them so it’ not impossible. I don’t know if it gives a good result or not but it’s worth a shot otherwise the only alternative is to replace the whole screen.

Thank you for the response! I'll probably just order another screen because I personally do not trust myself or believe I have enough experience to even replace it. It would just be easier to get a new screen.

What you can do is order the backlight anyway, then practice with the screen you damaged. If the result is good, then you can do this in the future rather than replace the whole screen.
