What’s wrong with my mic?!

So when I’m on the phone(FT Included), recording videos(IG,SC, and FB included),and doing voice memos my mic works fine

but when I try to video chat on Snapchat, instagram and Facebook messenger my mic doesn’t work and the other person can’t hear me why?

I’ve checked my settings so idk what it could be .

PLEASE HELP!!

There are 3 microphones in the iPhone.

  • The bottom microphone is for Voice Memo and phone calls. The other microphones serve as error cancellation
  • The (top) front microphone is used for FaceTime calls, Siri and selfie videos with the front camera (FCAM). The top back microphone serves as error cancellation
  • The (top) back microphone is used for videos with the rear camera (RCAM). The top front microphone serves as error cancellation

Make sure you update your device to the latest version of iOS and then try to isolate which microphone is not working properly by trying each individual microphone with the related apps above. If the issue affects more than one microphone, then it could be the Audio Codec IC on the logic board.

If all three work, then you have a software issue. I would try to delete the apps and re-install. Anything at the logic board level will require micro-soldering so you would need to find a repair shop that offers those services.

i got water in my top mic and now those apps only won’t work plus siri but i can still facetime and everything else fine, i’ve tried getting the water out etc but i don’t know what will help. please help i do have an iphone 6s plus and it was the tiniest bit of water and it still works when i’m really up close to the mic
