Why does my Keurig stop at the "heating please wait" message? Mo K155

I actually have a Keurig K155 but it is not listed and the Keurig K70 seems the closest looking model. My screen says “Heating please wait…” and never goes beyond that. When I turn on the unit the pump can be heard pumping water from the main reservoir confirmed by visually seeing the water drop. Then up pops the “heating please wait” message and it does nothing else. If I turn it off and back on (now that the initial water has pumped into the system) there is a click sound heard from with in as the “Heating please wait…” message comes back on the screen. Its like the water is never heating up in the first place as I hear no boiling sound and the side of the unit bears no warmth.

Update (09/13/2018)

Thank you for your comment. I did previously clean it but the issue is: following its pumping water from the reservoir which does so for about 40 seconds (reservoir water level visibly drops) after I had completely drained the system with hoses in the back it goes into “heating please wait” mode and never tries to pump the hot water out. Its like the water is never heating up in the first place as I hear no boiling sound and the side of the unit bears no warmth. Any other ideas?

Hello Ken,

I have the original Keurig and had this same issue. What I did was clean out where the hot water pours because of coffee ground build up, the bin where the water is held, and it worked for me. I do not know if that will be the same case for you, but also look up some videos, because upon looking up the issue on YouTube, a lot of fixes popped up. Sorry this isn’t as helpful as it could, but hopefully it does help!

Best of luck!

Then the issue could honestly be a hardware issue. The way it works is that it takes water and basically heats it up, then pours it at a certain temperature (not to boiling, but very hot). I am guessing that the water has to be a certain temperature for the computer inside to tell the water to pour, meaning either the heating element is broken, or the sensor is broken, essentially disabling the Keurig. Mine, like I said, was fixed during cleaning, but worst case, yours is a broken heating element or computer. Before you possibly get a new Keurig or get it fixed if this may be the issue, I would try any other basic troubleshooting measure of cleaning, letting it sit for a few days, or anything that could fix it before spending money on the issue.

Hope this helps!
