Dropped it and Backlight seems to be damaged. Help me!

I dropped my macbook pro, model 1226 and the screen stopped lighting up. I can look closely and see the desktop and everything is there, behind the dark screen, but it simply doesn't light up.

After it dropped, there is a dent in the front-right corner of the bottom (keyboard) panel and the screen simply doesn't light up.

Now, is there anybody who knows how to fix this or whether someone like me, who has no experience, could fix it myself?

I would be interested in any sort of help i can get.

Thanks!

Yeah, it works perfectly normal. I can even tell that it works normal without hooking it up to a monitor. The screen is dark, but if I look closely i can see my desktop and the mouse moving around. I did hook it up to a monitor to be able to check it all out and its all good. The problem is that the light doesn't light up to show the monitor the normal way. Like a light behind the monitor is burnt out or broken.

What kind of work goes into fixing it then, and what cost is involved? Is it worth it?

I just finished installing the LED backlight part, the part mentioned above. I went through all the instructions and did it.

NOW...

The monitor lights up, but it's a white monitor and that's as far as it gets. Now I just have a white monitor that shows up...

Any ideas??

Thanks for your help!!!

What do you see on the external?

everything is perfect on the external, just like before. The difference now is that instead of a black screen where I could faintly see the desktop, not it works, but it's only white. Like the light works now, but he image isn't being shown, except for when i hook it up to the external, then I see everything without any problems.

I was extremely careful in replacing the backlight...

I really want to fix this for my mom.

Hook it up to an external monitor. If it works, then the problem is most likely with the inverter or inverter cable. Let us know your results.

If you can see the desktop, it's usually a problem with the inverter or inverter cable. I would check the connections before replacing anything.

Hi mayer, I have the exact same problem, I already replaced the inverter, and that wasn't the problem. Any other ideas of what can I do?
