Stuck in recovery mode. Error (7) and (-1). What are my options?
My iPhone X is less than 2 months old.
The phone was connected to a power outlet and was hot spotting. I was working on my computer when all of a sudden I lost connection to the internet. Then I look at my phone and it is in recovery mode. The infamous Cable iTunes logo.
I’ve tried to update via iTunes version 12.8 (iPhone to iOS 11.4.1) multiple times on two computers, a PC and a mac. With updated macOS/Windows and iTunes to the latest version. I’ve tried with two different cables and tried without the SIM card.
I always get the same errors:
- Mac error: The iPhone “iPhone” could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (7).
- PC error: The iPhone “iPhone” could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (-1).
Then I tried two 3rd party software:
Tenorshare ReiBoot Pro with he latest version. Both Exit Recovery Mode and Repair Operating System options failed.
Dr. fone Repair and Recover failed too.
When I went to the store they tried the iTunes update once and said to restore. Like I can’t follow simple iTunes instructions.
What are my options to recover the data?
Can’t believe I’ve lost all those precious photos from the vacation I just took.
Is this a hardware failure? Should I opt for a new iPhone?
