austin316, it is always possible that it is a defective product, but first what I would do is to disassemble again and triple check the connections and to make sure that everything is seated properly and that all cable and connections are clean and straight. Also try to perform a hard reset on your touch (does iTunes recognize it?)Press and hold the power button and the home button at the same time for 30 seconds or longer :-). When you see the Apple logo appear on the screen, let go of the buttons and wait for the iPod to start up.
