Installed Samsung 860 EVO SSD, no wi-fi & wont turn on without charger
I just purchased a 1TB 860 Samsung EVO SSD on Amazon to improve my MacBooks performance. I cloned the SSD and went ahead and swapped out my HDD for the SSD. I plugged the battery back in and started putting the cover back on.
When I pushed the power button the Mac did not want to turn on at all. I was confused because I was sitting around 85-90% before I swapped the drives. I decided to plug in the charger and it started up. It took a little longer than usual but I thought it was okay because I figured the system was trying to recognize the drive.
I logged in and I noticed that I was not connected to my network. I also noticed the wi-fi symbol blank with an "x" inside it. I opened up the wi-fi preferences and noticed that I had no option to wi-fi at all. It showed that fire-wire, Ethernet, and Bluetooth PAN was not connected but nothing about wi-fi at all. So I disconnected the charger thinking that I only needed it for starting the Mac but then the whole system shutdown.
So now it only starts up with the charger connected and I have no wi-fi. Could the cloning process miss the wi-fi drivers or is it something else? Also what could be the problem with the charger having to be plugged in in order for the Mac to stay alive?
I purchased this laptop back in September/October 2017 refurbished. I've never had a problem with the battery or the charger before I installed the SSD. I also installed the latest version of High Sierra before I cloned the SSD and installed it into the Mac.
This is my school computer and I would like to get it up and running properly before I start class again in late August. If anymore information is needed please feel free to ask.
Thank you.
