My ps3 will not play a blu-ray disk but will play all regular movies? It will play the games for a minute then freezes! I was wondering if replacing the blu-ray optic drive will that fix my problem!

It sounds like a problem with the console itself, probably overheating. You might want to clean the dust out of it, and see if that does anything. An easy way of doing this is to unplug it (from the wall) hold down the "Eject" button, and plug it back in while still holding the eject button. It should turn rev up the fans, and blow out the dust inside of it.

If you have a PS3 with dual lasers, one laser reads games and Blu Ray and the other laser reads DVDs. Replacing the laser will most likely solve your issue.

That always happens when your laser is dying. I've seen its several times. Even happened to me once. It's pretty easy to swap the laser but they cost around $50.

A regular laser will only run you around $15, upwards to $25 depending on the model laser.
