Logic Board: FAN CONNECTOR popped off.

I popped off the fan logic board connector instead of sliding out the ribbon connector from the fan. Is this replaceable or do I have to get a whole new logic board?

(I spilled coffee on this beast, and broke it in the process of trying to clean it up. double damage depression.)

Get help next time. Clearly you shouldn't be attempting repairs until you have more knowledge and experience. Maybe get some experience on totally dead, scrap circuit boards.

Never have food or drinks any where near your work space, etc.

Thanks for the intention to help. I'm still looking for an answer to my question - and didn't find this very helpful as you may have assumed incorrectly my experience and context of the issue. I assure you no food/drink was near me when repairing. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem and didn't find a solution. The socket sold in internet cost to low for beliving it's real in sell. Howere I 'm not able to put because I don't know how is fixed because there is no photo of what was under the socket fixed on the mainboard. I have tried to put some scotch! But the real problem is how to conect pin versus pin on the mainboard because the pins of the fan are inserted in the socket of che cable fan and there is no more the socket I have broken on the mainboard. On web I couldn't find the socket! otherwise I should try with a modern glue but it seems very risky because I have no idea of how the conexion works! Pins must touch the others pin how?

@markbookpro

Were you able to fix this issue ? I have something similar going on eteeem I pulled off the DC power jack connector and need micro soldering or something

@srajasekharrao - best to create a fresh question with some pics so we can see things, other wise time to find someone with the needed skills to fix your system.

@markbookpro it is absolutely not necessary to replace your logic board; this is very easily repairable for someone who does microsoldering repair. Either by replacing the broken connector, or worse case scenario if replacement parts are nowhere to be found (happens sometimes), connecting the cable directly to the board. We’ve done it before and it is pretty straightforward.

Even for someone who is not a microsoldering technician, but good enough with a “macro” soldering iron, it can be pulled off. Provided your hands are not shaky and you do not knock adjacent components off.

If you don’t want to venture with this repair, you can mail it in to a reputable micro soldering tech. They can fix it and even replace corroded components if any are to be found following the liquid damage it has suffered. Some of them contribute to the forum here like @oldturkey03 said. Depends on where you are located.

@markbookpro

the connector can be soldered back on. If you tore the solder pads you can fairly easy run jumper to either the trace or the last componet before the connector. You will have to know how to solder small components etc. If you do not have the tools or the skills, check with users like this https://www.ifixit.com/Business/29688/TC... and see if they can help. Of course this will depend on your geographic location. Pictures will always help to give you a definite answer. Post some images of the damaged board with your question. Use this guide Adicionar imagens a uma pergunta já existente for that

Update (07/24/2018)

@markbookpro thanks for the images. Yes, it does look repairable. Just like @rany said, all you would need to do is to get in contact with people that do microsoldering. It’ll be a lot cheaper than replacing the board.

Hello,

I have the same problem. Sincerely, it is the last time I spend money on such brittle hardware. So I will attempt to fix it… til it dies with horror and pain.

This connector is available via ebay with a such name: Microphone Connector for MacBook Pro Retina 13" A1425 A1502 Mic fpc clip 6PIN

Here is the link I used for shipping within Europe, https://www.ebay.fr/itm/Microphone-Conne...

Just make sure you are using proper soldering tip and **FLUX** to avoid any additional problem.

Regards

Unfortunately I can not state whether or not this can be repaired. Can you post a picture of the board where the connector was removed? Depending upon the condition, it may be repairable. Also post a picture of the connector from the side that sits on the board. Most likely the connector is salvageable. The condition of the pads on the board will determine whether or not it can be fixed.
