Why can't I turn on my phone and charge it?

So I will keep the story on what happened short.

I was in a bathroom using my phone (phone was close to water, but not directly in the water). I ran low on battery 1-2%. So I quickly went to original charger and plug the iphone in I did not notice if then it charged or not, I just left it by the charger for 30-40mins, came back phone was turned off and I could not turn it on. Checked the charger it was working fine.

I just have no clue what went wrong. If anyone can help just a little bit it will be magnificent.

Hello @squirtologs

I had similar situation once.i am not sure about your case. But can tell you about mine.

i was taking shower, and listen to music.i think STEAM had affected phone and it ports.it turn off and wasn't able to start.i just put it into rice(rice pulls out all wet and water nano drops) .wait a while.and it work nice and smooth.

If situation is similar, you can do same.

Well thank you for sharing. But my phone did not turn off just because of water (because when I put it to the charger it was still on). It just did not charge when I put it to charger. I'm just guessing that I need to change Lightning Connector on Iphone but Im not sure.

Hello @squirtologs

Do you have any updates about your phone status?

por

No it did not work. Next month I am going to test the lightning connector if it works properly. Thanks for being so interested!

Seems like it could be one of many issues, or all of them combined.

Does the device show any signs of charging when you plug it in? An LED or maybe it vibrates?

Leave the phone in rice, like the above comment suggested, and after that (ONLY AFTER, in case of water getting into the device, plugging it in can short the components) leave it charging for a while.

When batteries go to 0% (which they never should) they take a while to calibrate and get back to the correct voltage.

Also, when you do plug it in (a couple of hours maybe, with a good power brick and cable) make sure to check regularly for unusual heating or even sounds.

Please report back with any developments.

It does not show any signs of charging.

However, I will try the rice thing later and charging the phone for a long period.

I will send feedback on suggestion after.

Be sure to try different cables and power bricks and even different outlets (why not?).

If it shows any signs of life, you might have a faulty charger.

If still nothing, it might be one of several things, from damage in the charging circuit, or even lint on the charging port which prevents contact between the charger and the phone. Try to take a look inside the port, it's a common issue, maybe make a pass with a plastic pick to see if you can get any dirt or dust out.

Good luck, my friend, let us know how it goes.

Thanks! Cleaned the port from dust, did not help.

You've probably went down the list, but lets just review.

Check cable

-Check the end that plugs into the device, look at the contacts (gold/silverish) and see if it's discolored, blue/green like. If so then the cable got wet and may or may not work.

-Ensure it's not damage, wires coming out etc.

-make sure the power brick is working fine and/or test on another USB out (i.e. PC/Laptop)

-Test another good charging cable, just to make sure. If the cable you are using isn't an original apple cable then be cautious as it may have some side effects to the charging ability of the phone.

Inspect the charging port in the device.

- Look for similar discoloration if possible (bright light and magnifying glass).

- Brush out (not push in) any dirt/ debris from the port (typically you will here a slight "click" sound when you insert the charging cable.

See if hard restart wakes up. Power Button /wake button and Vol Down until apple logo appears.

If issue isn't resolved - check inside the sim tray to see if the white sticker was triggered (will turn red when water has entered the unit)

If none of these solve the issue then we need to assume it's hardware related.

If you noticed that when you plug the phone in the charger and it gets really warm on the back, then possible board issue and the you will need to see a board specialist (sorry I'm not one, but we have some amazing people on here that may be able to assist, or you can see your local shop).

The other options, that seems to work with us before ruling the board is checking the batteries condition. We shock the battery and see if it's going to recharge while charging. This, of course, is done at a shop. Possibly your battery has gone bad.

Good luck and hope this helps. Keep us in the loop

Thanks for support! I've done those things, white sticker is white as far as my eye can see. I'll just go to service center, ask them to see if the lightning connector works properly if it does work then maybe logic board is the issue or/and battery.
