Startup repair offline Windows 7PRO

Greetings,

• About two weeks I was trying to remove an antivirus that the removal file was somehow no longer available... In order to get a new antivirus I needed to removed the old one; so I used a 3rd party uninstaller. Once the PC tower bootup I got the blue screen of death. PC does not have a DVD so I setup a USB with the windows files to go into the USB to use the repair function, which it did some staff because the blue screen error code is now different. So the OS is not loading! I thought then I can do an in-place upgrade of the same OS with my USB, but I am getting an error that "The computer started using the Windows installation disc. Remove the installation disc and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, then..... " Not very good news since that is my problem, my computer will not restart normally!

• F8 is non functional, so I cannot try

1. Last Good Know Configuration

2. Safe Mode

3. System Recovery Options

With the System Recovery and the the startup repair I get the following message:

• Local ID: 1033

• System Recovery Options:

• - Startup Repair

- System Restore

- System Image Recovery

- Windows Memory Diagnostics

- Command Prompt

• But the only option I get is the Startup Repair because it says that there is no system restore point and I know I never created an image. Windows memory diagnostics did not found anything, and I do have access to command prompt!

I found someone having certain similarities to my problem here:Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically - please help and I followed the Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.

•If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type Yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully.

•If the Bootrec.exe tool cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order in which they are presented. Press ENTER after each command.

Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

This part failed because it said that it could not find the bcd file...

Bootrec /rebuildbcd

This work successfully

1.Restart the computer.

Blue screen of death yet again!

Please advice!

Hello Augustine,

Unfortunately the F8 option does not work in this case so all I get is the blue screen of death, which I recorded since the PC restarts so fast, but all I get out of the recording is the top section of the blue screen, weird because it is like the bottom (most important part) is missing... I am sure it is an illusion... Is there a log file describing the text of the blue screen? I do have access to a command window so that might be helpful.

A different topic, in my days of working with WindowsXP, when something like this would occur, we used to be able to reinstall the OS preserving data and software. That is no longer possible with Windows7?

Thanks!

New questions:

Where is the backup of the original registry and is there a way to rename the existing registry to become registry.old and rename the backup to become the normal registry?

I have no access for F8 (for some reason I get the blue screen as soon after as the Windows logo shows -when the 3 color dots gets together), but I wonder where the "last good boot" file resides and how could I use it?

Any third party software that could help repair corruption?

The code showing on the blue screen is:

*** STOP: 0x0000005 (0x0000000001FF80F1A,0x0000000000000001,0xFFFFF800036304F0,0x0000000000000002)

I'm having the exact same issue I think. And this: is happening to be also-

Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

This part failed because it said that it could not find the bcd file...

Bootrec /rebuildbcd

This work successfully

1.Restart the computer.

Hi @microtcpip

This this, when you on the computer, keep pressing on F8 button till you see a boot screen selection.

Block Image

Disable automatic restart upon system failure.

Select this, and when BSOD (Blue Screen of Death Shows Up)

Take a picture or take note on the error Located at the Technical Information.

We need the BSOD information to find the fault
