iPod asking restore error 9

I have an Ipod 2nd generation that keep in the screen of connecting to iTunes. Tried to make a restore in DFU mode, but it keeps responding with a unidentifier error (9)

Tried also in another MAC. searching for an USB problem.

Could it be an hardware problem? or can it be resolved with software?

have you checked your usb cord? with time and twisting etc the cable inside can become damaged..use a multimeter to check continuity. have you cleaned the dock and checked pins etc

Error 9 Unknown

Disconnection Problem

The error 9 means that the iphone was unplugged when handling, it is advised to change usb cable, usb port. (Do not use the Hub)

If problem remains unsolved despite your attempts to Restore in Recovery Mode and DFU, contact service Apple.

This error occurs when the device has been inadvertently disconnected from the USB bus and the communication stopped. This can occur if the device is disconnected manually during the restoration process. You can solve it by making a USB troubleshooting isolation, using a different USB cable dock connector, trying other USB ports, performing the restore on another computer or removing conflicts caused by third-party security software.

maybe I am wrong, but itunes errors are for iphone/ipod and ipad..

Follow the advice given by pollytintop. It is one of the right ways to resolve it. The other thing you can do is to turn of your antivirus or firewall while you update. There is more info on here and on here as well Good Luck
