Pressure spot on iPhone after screen replacement.

So, there’s this small white dot on my screen after a screen replacement. I’ve been told that it could be to do with the small silver box that sits on the back? It’s not directly flat because the adhesive on my replacement metal plate isn’t great. I only see the spot when the phone is in the frame. When it’s just connected and I test, there’s nothing.

I’ve attached some pictures.

Yeah it's the rectangle silver shield that covers the screen display ic chip that is pushing against the screen / phone.

Usually to fix this issue you just need to re-align the flex so that it fits in the spacing as you see near the speaker / logic board.

How would you recommend I go about fixing it? Do I take the whole plate off or just move it? It doesn’t really stay because the adhesive has kinda worn out.

Also @benjamen50, when pressing down on the home button hard or pushing down on the area of pressure, you can see It go in like it goes slightly grey when pushing finger. Hard to explain.

Take the screen off, take the home button plate off and the side screws on the flex side if the screen. Now carefully unstick the flex cables away from the bottom of the shield and push the flex cables and ic as far into the phone as possible and so the ic shield lays square and tighten it all back down.

There is a ridge on the loud speaker that the shield needs to sit in or you get the pressure marks.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the detailed answer @bobcat1981 Just want to confirm a few things before I give it a go so I don’t get anything wrong. So remove the screws on the flex cable side of the screen on the shield? Keep the ear speaker and other accessories on at the top? I presume you mean to take the home button out too Instead of just the bracket. Then push the silver box into the little ridge? How do I go about doing that?

Hope you don’t mind the questions.

I can see the little ridge where the box should sit. Would the white spot be permanent damage to the screen now? Will I have to get a new one? Or will adjusting it just remove it? @bobcat1981

por

No need to remove the front cam or home button, you just need to lift the metal shield up carefully, unsticking the ribbon cables from the bottom of it, and push all the flex slack to the top side of the screen then rest the shield back down. It should then hold its self in position. Hard to explain without photos of me doing it.

por

Yeah, I’m so sorry, I don’t really understand. So, you take the left side of the metal shield screws off? Unstick the bottom bit and push the cables like, backwards? Then push the plate down and they should stick. That what you mean? @bobcat1981

Hi ive tried to make a picture for you but I don't have a shield with me to demonstrate as I'm not at the shop.

A. Make sure all the slack is taken in this direction.

B. The edge of the ribbon is along the edge of the phone.

Thanks @bobcat1981 Is much appreciated. Understood. Will give it a shot tomorrow.

@bobcat1981 I’ve tried moving it around as you’ve said but I’m not being very successful. It’s just moving back into the same place. Could the pressure mark be permanent damage to the screen or is it just the same position every time?

por

Try sticking it down into place like in my photo, there shouldn't be permanent damage if if not been pressed into the LCD too hard

por

@bobcat1981 Ah! So, I can use like bits of adhesive tape to stick it down? I've got a few bits that I've peeled off from the screen assembly that have been used to stick other components down.

por

Yes, just nothing too thick or you will have more pressure marks!
