How to fix usb port on Sylvania SP333? & ways to listen to music

Hi I have a Sylvania SP333 bluetooth speaker and for quite some time now I have not been able to enjoy my tunes out back while Im cooking on the grill and watching the sunset. After putting it to some good use eventually the usb port started to become loose and I do believe that it could even possibly be detached now. So I'm wondering is there a different way that I am able to charge up my Bluetooth and also is there another way that I can listen to my music on there without pairing? If someone could help me out with some diagrams on how to repair and replace the USB port that would be great. And if u could tell me where i could possibly locate the interchangeable lithuim battery. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thankyou all

Hi @brandyhare ,

According to the manual it has a 3.5mm aux jack so you should be able to run a stereo audio cable, (which has a 3.5mm plug on the end of it, perhaps both ends depending on the source's connector type) from your music source (usually the headphone socket of a device e.g. a mobile phone perhaps or a mp3 player) and plug it into the speaker to get your music going. Not as portable but still workable

To replace the battery and reconnect/replace the charge port you would have to open the speaker so that it could be inspected to :

a) get the battery information i.e. dimension, voltage and capacity (printed on the battery)

b) ascertain what is wrong with the USB charge port.

It may be easier to repair/replace the USB port than to devise alternate charging methods as it would involve finding out about the battery management system that is in place in the speaker. When charging Lithium batteries care needs to be taken to ensure that it is done correctly and that is already in the circuit design. It could be done by using a different connector type and wiring it instead of the USB connector but that may have to wait until it is known what space etc is available inside the speaker.

I couldn't find a service manual or any teardown videos for your speaker. The closest that I found is this one for a SP262 model which may or may not be of some help.

If you do manage to get it open, take some close up pictures of the information that is printed on the battery and also of the USB port on the pcb, and post back here.

Here's how to do that.

I had the same issue. When I opened my speaker the charge point on the usb was broke. I just soldered it back on and am currently waiting on it to cool completely before testing it out. It is tricky to do but hopefully this works
