Touch ID suddenly stoppes working

Hi,

Changed a ip6 screen (iFixit part) in the beginning of February. Yesterday the Touch ID stopped working. No waterdamage, no dropping of the phone just suddenly stoppet recognizing fingerprint!

Tried reboot, iOS update, changed back shield flex, tried with original screen.

No visible damage on sensor.

Nothing helps, iPhone can’t configure Touch ID!

The push button function works!

Anyone had this issue before?

You'll need to closely inspect the Home Button again. While the button may look fine, you'll need to focus on the flex cable, the connector and the connector on the Home Button Link (the long flex that runs underneath the back of the screen assembly.

This is an area that is typically damaged during DIY repairs. The flexes are very delicate and even the slightest tear can cause issues. Use a magnifying glass or jewellers loupe and inspect it very carefully.

@refectio Thanx,

I know the flex is vulnerable, that's why i have never teared one ( until now maby ;P ). I'll take a look under the microscope later on just to be sure. Also i did change the the flex run between button and main board.

The thing i don't understand is how the touch ID worked for several weeks, and then suddenly stopped working! As i said, I did the screen replacement 3 weeks ago, and just now out of no where the Touch ID is malfunctioning .

Is the ID circuitry anyway fused on the main board. Has anyone had any luck changing bad caps, res, or inductors related to Tuch ID faults?
