Prostar D900C Screen flashes white but never loses picture?

This laptop never loses picture but the screen suddenly gets bright white then goes back to normal under any type of usage.

I could be watching a movie then the screen will flicker white then normal many times in succession. I am thinking it has something to do with the screen itself or the cable, as I can push the screen in at the center of the hinges and will stay normal till I let it go and starts flickering again or I should say flashes bright white.

I sent it in for repair after explaining it to their techs and they assumed it was a video card then replaced one and sent it back and it started up again after 2 weeks.

Thanks for the reply. I did find the service manual at another website. I have also contacted Prostar through email to see if I might be able to get it fixed but, this is out of warranty and would have to pay to ship it and fix it.

Is the cable a generic cable I could buy at say, Microcenter? Or are they specially made for the types of laptops they go in?

I built and maintain all my destops but, have never serviced a laptop and reluctant to even try to tear this one down. I belive in order for me to get to the cable, I would have to do a complete tear down since the cable is most likely under the mobo.

First off, thank you for accepting my answer. Yes, the cable is more than likely proprietary and model specific. I am with you on the tear-down, looks like its a bit messy and not as convenient as a desktop, but doable. I think a good systematic approach and a nice service area and plenty of time will get you to success on this.

Since it does get better, or at least stabilizes while you are pushing on the hinges, I would think that you have either a loose cable or a broken cable that is routed through the hinges. The service manual is available for you to download on my file share site do feel free to download it and see if this is something that you could tackle. BTW great computer. Good Luck and let us know how it is going.
