English: Sadly, Apple didn't populate the logic board in some models with all of the parts. Theres more than the connector there are other components needed to add in the PCIe SSD blade connector.

If you are looking to upgrade your system to an SSD you can just go with a 2.5" SSD replacing your HD. Here's the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2805 Hard Drive Replacement

i will doit!!!!

I am documenting what is needed to enable the PCIe port. I have a workshop prepared to do it and until now I have not had the need.

I think this is possible since I have exchanged SMC from A1398 with PCIe to other A1398s without PCIe and vice versa. So it makes me think that it would just be soldering the missing components. In the case of those that received an SMC from an A1398 without a soldered PCIe port, the equipment that received it continued to operate its "Fusion Drive" without problems.

If you like to support this project you can support by sharing information at a1398pciemod@iprorepair.shop

1.High resolution photos of your motherboard and the EMC whether or not they have a PCIE port (this will help me make a list of the versions of A1398 and their respective EMC with and without PCIe)

2. Include the 820-xxxxx on the motherboard.

3. If you have a motherboard with a damaged PCIe port, I can buy it at a fair price to continue the investigation. As long as you publish it on Ebay and they can accept shipments to Mexico. :)
