Lines on my screen

Hi I was using my kindle fire tablet on the internet when all of a sudden vertical lines appeared , I can still swipe the screen and the lines change as though the page is moving but all I can see is lines on a foggy screen. Could this be a virus?I have not dropped the tablet or banged it.
