ReplaCe iPhone 3G headjack

I am checked the guide here and it does not tell you how to replace the headphone jack cable. It ceases at the important bit (replacing the jack and how to reattach the ribbon etc)

I have all these pieces for the buttons but there is absolutely nothing on the net that shows how to reattach the cable to the metal platen or the volume button or the silent switch and the funny looking plastic mechanism it appears to connect to.

Nor does anything show how to reconnect the cable to the power button. Does anyone have any info?

I have checked on eBay for parts that connect to e buttons but there is nothing...

Solução escolhida

iPhone 3G Headphone Jack Replacement

as it says at the bottom of the guide-to replace simply reverse the steps. i have done this repair many times and you need nothing other than the replacement jack. Re read the guide and perhaps it will make more sense- the part you will remove is identical to the one you will replace.

As I stated... button holders are already disconnected so how can I reverse the steps when it does not include removing teh button holders? Please read before you post. Can anyone here please provide some info? Perhaps someone with the details on how to do this with the button holders? I would be very appreciative.

right!

is the part you have this http://cgi.ebay.com/Iphone-3G-Headphone-...

or this?

iPhone 3G/3GS Headphone Jack Assembly

as you can see not quite the same.

we try very hard to answer questions but can only go on the information you give us. saying that the button holders are already disconnected doesn't really make things clear. Disconnected from the phone? from the flex? from the buttons?
