Dark Area in Screen on iPhone 7 plus Even after Screen Replacement

I have replaced the screen on my water damaged Iphone 7 plus twice and both screens have had a dark area on the bottom left corner.

I'm beginning to think its not the screen but some damage to the motherboard.

Also, half of the battery connector has fallen off but it still functions perfectly.

I could put it in my ultrasonic cleaner but I'm afraid the battery connector may completely fall off in doing so.

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix the dark area?

I’ve encountered this a few times and when I check it after the Lcd cable seems to be fraying or the plastic is melting or something. I can’t figure out why it is happening but I’ve seen it happen 4 times now and by the time the screen gets darker in the corner (which isn’t right away) when I open it the wires have sustained damage as if there was direct contact with metal or something. Can’t believe I have found nothing about this online.

Hey I have the same problem I think it’s the mother board every screen I put on my 7 Plus does it I wanna fix it but not to sure what to do

Same problem but with a corresponding bright side on the bottom right (dark spot being bottom left). Haven’t tried a different screen yet.

This is why I also think it’s the logic board:

I accidentally and unknowingly powered my phone on while installing the replacement screen. I didn’t realize what I did until I felt heat coming from the logic board along with a burnt smell and black screen.

I couldn’t power on, or so I thought. Disconnected screen and battery, then reconnected. Shortly thereafter, I noticed the dark spot. What’s weird is the bottom right side appears brighter than the rest of the screen.

Anyone do or experience something similar?

Could your guys’ power have been on when the connector touch other parts of the logic board while trying to attach the connector?

I noticed that I never had to power the device on after plugging everything back in.

I’m wondering if I should bother getting a new screen. These unbranded Chinese replacement screens suck.

If your not able to touch the area either. Did they check for senser damage? There are senses that allow you to touch the screen. They are underneath the glass screen. If not that, will the connections to the motherboard may have one peace that's damaged. That ends up going to screen input. I would say if the phone is working after steen repair. That your dealing with sterns sense on the bottom left side of your screen.

This dark area does have touch. I have used two different screens so I am fairly certain it is not the screen itself but something on the motherboard.

With the 6s this was common when a backlight circuit was jeopardised and a quick fix was to jump lines. My best advice would be to skim through YouTube with the search iPhone 7 backlight repair

Most likely a backlight filer that blew whilst attaching the connector without disconnecting the battery, although the problem may be with any part of the backlight circuit. Mine smelled burned. This guy has the same problem and fixes it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVoEDR4O...

If you peel off the tape covering the circuits you can examine it for dark, burned filter. 95% of time it’s the filter according to this tech’s experience, although it could technically be any part of the circuit (coil, diode, connector).

Anyone doing this repair? How much should I expect to pay to get it done? Can’t you just replace the filter instead of the jumper? Looks harder running a jumper and less reliable of a repair.
