How do I fix my bricked Kindle Fire HD 8.9 showing Red Screen

Last week I bricked my Kindle 8.9 2nd generation and now it has a red screen as soon as I boot it up. So tried the fastboot but there is no device detected. This is the driver I see listed when not plugged in-Android ADB Interface . When I plug in the micro usb, a different driver pops up called Jem and then it goes away. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Right now I see Android ADB Interface. All I did was upgrade the Kindle for my sister and then the screen changed to red. Bricked it big time.
