iPhone repairs - Insider

Hi All,

I am relatively new to the iPhone repair scene and was wondering whether you would be happy to share some inside knowledge on a couple of questions I have.

Firstly, when purchasing screens, I have read a lot around after market LCD's. Do you find that manufacturers such as Alibaba are a good source for replacements? I know people prefer to use refurbished legitimate ones, but I do not have that resource available.

Also, when purchasing, do you buy in bulk. For example:

x5 6s in white

x5 6s in black

And also for the PLUS?

Secondly, I was really interested in taking apart the 7 and fixing it up, this seems to be a no go now with the latest IOS update making the HB a dud with other LCD's. Would sticking to iPhone 6 model and below be better? and also do you think apple are going to apply the IOS HB bricking to other models?

I would really appreciate your feedback on this as it is something I would really like to start on right foot with.

Thanks,

Zak

First of all, Alibaba is no manufacturer it´s just a platform like eBay, especially for B2B costumers. If you mean aliexpress.com this is actually no good source for good quality. You should always buy in bulk because the reduces the price. It´s quite hard to find a reliable supplier overseas. There are many manufacturers that claim to have the best quality on the market, but who wouldn´t? You will need to do many test orders from different suppliers and you need devices to test the displays to really measure the quality. Check brightness, yellowing and so on......

It looks to me like you are just starting your business. So I would recommend looking for local or national supplier first. Or even use ifixit B2B. They offer really high quality and good prices and more important lifetime warranty. The most suppliers overseas only a 3-month warranty or better if you order very big quantities up to 5000 units. On top of that, it´s important to give your supplier feedback what should be improved to raise the quality and for better QC. Last but not least it´s really necessary to visit the supplier to see how he is working, how big is his factory, how many units do they produce ........

So you see it costs a lot of money and time to set up your own supply chain. In my opinion, you need a turnover of at least 50.000 Units per year to finance building up your own supply and to raise your margin compared to ordering from a local supplier. The first think you should really do is to sustain your knowledge about LCD especially IPS-Technologie to understand how they work, what are weak points and ways to improve quality and to develop a fast and reliable QC to hold your quality level.

I can recomment you the following supplier that we use a the moment and we are very confident. http://www.rewatechnology.com. They are offering everythink you need from refurbishment mashines, Parts like Display....., Chipsets and solutions esspecially for board level repairs. They have a very good customer service and fast shipping times to Germany via DHL Air Mail. I hope i could answer most of your questitions and good luck to you.
