Can I upgrade the SSD to a Samsung 850 EVO 2TB 2.5-Inch SATA III?

It's a series MZ-75E2T0B/AM. If not, what should I use? Trying to get the largest capacity possible without sacrificing speed. I'm a novice, so go easy on me!

Hi,

It does not seem you can upgrade the SSD of your MBP with the SSD you mentioned.

You should look for specific SSD compatible with your MBP. The following link indicates what model of SSD to buy and how to upgrade it on your MBP.

It's an easy process!

Hope that helps :)

Your only choice for the SSD is OWC - MacBook Pro with Retina 13" & 15" 2012 — Early 2013.

Sadly, Apple uses a custom SSD design, other than them, OWC is it!

Darn. I was thinking there were adapters available for other SSDs that people have used.

I don't recommend them.

@mcdaddy1 - I've tried a few different rMBP systems with poor results. Some people have managed to use a M.2 adapter frame to then put in a SATA/AHCI M.2 SSD. You just can't use the newer PCIe SSD's.

@mcdaddy1, this is what I did with my mid 2012 13" Retina.

1) I got this adapter from ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/272335219747

2) then I got a 1tb Samsung EVO mSata

3) After installing OS X 10.10.5 or newer I ran the following command

'sudo trimforce enable'

This works perfectly.
