Does Asus N752 support 5 GHz wifi?

Hi all,

First time here!

I recently bought a lovely Asus N752 laptop but I'm surprised that it doesn't SEEM to have 5 ghz wifi compatibility, just the usual 2.4 GHz.

When I do the standard recommended search, it says I have 802.11b 802.11g 802.11n options.

Is there anything I can do to get 5ghz wifi please?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Your systems specs: Asus Vivobook Pro N752 series (N752VX) review – 17-inch laptop for professionals

Reviewing it tells us it offers both 2.4 & 5.0 GHz Wifi as well as MIMO.

Go to wifi settings advanced settings, and tell us the model of the wifi card. Or go into properties of the wifi adapter.

Dan - Asus told me that my system doesn't support 5.0. Just 2.4

George, is this what you want?

SSID: *****************

Protocol: 802.11n

Security type: WPA2-Personal

Network band: 2.4 GHz

Network channel: 6

IPv4 address: *********

Manufacturer: Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc.

Description: Qualcomm Atheros AR946x Wireless Network Adapter

Driver version: 3.0.2.201

Does this help please?

Perfect. Also, that wifi card should support 5.0 ghz as (as far as I know) all the chips in that series support it. One other thing, go to properties then to driver. I need to know the driver provider.

Does your router support 5Ghz Wifi? And if it does is it enabled? Im not sure what type or router you have but if you have something thats quality and relatively modern then it should. To enable it if it already isnt, go into your web browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the url bar and you should be prompted to put in a user and pass. If you arent try either 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.0.1 if either of those doesn't work, check your router as it might have insight into what to put. Once you're into the dashboard, the wifi options should be the first things you see. You have to go to the 5GHZ option and enable it. Once it is, it should say whatever its named and then 5G after it in your wifi list. If you dont see it even though its enabled, your laptop probably doesnt support it, although that would be really odd as my phone and 2010 MacBook see mine just fine.

Sorry if that was confusing. If it was just get the brand and model number of your router and just type that into google followed by "how to enable 5Ghz wifi"

I hope this answered your question, if it did please hit the accept answer button!

Sh*t....just typed a long reply and it disappeared!

Simple answer - yes, it supports 5 Ghz as it works on my mobile phone when I switch to it on the modem. At the same time, my laptop can't find that network anymore....not until I switch back to 2.4 Ghz.

Ps thanks!!!

Haha, i know that feeling too. Are you sure? When you look in your wifi list, you dont see anything that has a 5G after it?

Download the driver here. I used that driver for a very similar wifi card I got.

Also, fiddle with this set of settings:

Hi George,

I uninstalled the previous drivers and installed the ones on your link, but it made no difference.

My laptop couldn't find 5.0 signal so I had to go on my mobile (which does accept 5.0) and change it back.

I followed your settings in your screenshot too....that's how they've always been.

It's very strange but I think Asus might be right.....
