Can the audio component of my Portege R830 be replaced?
I have noticed that the sound has been getting considerably weaker over the past few weeks.

Unfortunately, the sound chip is soldered as part of the motherboard.
Some suggestions/questions:
• how is the sound level through the speaker/headphone jack?
• if your laptop has bluetooth, try paring to bluetooth speakers
• if your laptop doesn't have bluetooth, try a USB bluetooth dongle and pair it to USB speakers
Bluetooth bypasses any need of the sound chip in your computer.
There's also a USB sound adapter you can use:
