Does the A1260 MacBook Pro require a Torx T6 or TR6 Screwdriver?

@godernst , Mike, It appears to be T6 from the guides, but if you do not already have the screwdriver perhaps consider getting the TR6 Torx then you have a the capability of removing security screws if need be. I think iFixit takes this into consideration. Good luck.

If you are not a repair professional the essential electronics toolkit is a great bargain and will do the job and much more besides. I've done some minor work on an older macbook with mine with no issues. Looks like the guide links to the nice soft handled non-interchangeable-bit dedicated tr6 tool that just happens to have that different (but similar) part number. I just did a bit more research and tr6 is different than vanilla t6 in that it has the relief hole in the center of the bit to prevent ordinary t6 bits from working with the tr6 style screws. The one supplied in the new essential electronics toolkit is a TR6 bit so it will work if you want to spend a bit more money to get all those nice additional tools. My own kit was the original now discontinued EET kit. These can still be had from vendors on amazon I believe (google "Essential Electronics Toolkit IF145-047-1"). These older kits have a much larger number of bits and the price on amazon is about twice what I paid four years ago!
