soul524 the charging port is soldered to the motherboard. you will have to disassemble your phone and replace the port. This video is almost identical to the way you will have to repair your phone. Replacement ports are available at places like this.

@oldturkey03 , Just thought this was a little strange, maybe was it to be addition to your original answer?
From my experience the core prime has a slightly different micro USB port, there is a raised section in the port which requires a charge cable with the corresponding relief.
Or the port is totally dead

soul524 have you tried a different cable and a different charger? Does it charge when you "wiggle" the cable in the connector? Does the connector looks damaged?
