I wonder if the screen still works. Did the client ask that question to you when he brang it in?

por

the screen actually was fine.

This was a coworker's phone, so no silly complaints. He showed it to me and I just laughed because it looked so awesome. 5 minutes and a new battery later the thing worked and looked like new.

I'm going to pop the battery tomorrow if I get the time.

por

Hey @joshw , can you make a video of you popping the battery? That should be neat (or not) ;>).

por

Extremely unsatisfying. I think I proved to myself that Apple does use some type of agent to seal punctures. This one was extremely bloated and I stabbed it at least 10 times and nothing happened.

Kids....try this at home.

@joshw , Good vid, how long was the stick, maybe try a shorter one next time LOL! This reminds me of some crazzzy experiments we tried with old car air bags years ago.:-))))

I think the problem is that you have too many popcorn kernels inside that black bag thingy. Next time, get a model with less kernels, or reduce the time in the microwave. Follow this guide on how to hack the bag.

Perhaps if you gave us more info on the history of this device, we could help you better.

@joshw, there is nothing wrong with it. As you pointed out in one of your comments to @tomchai the battery is fine. This is a prototype released by Apple of their new technology. The phones equipped with that type of battery were given to politicians on both sides of the isle during the last presidential race for final field testing. It is a hot air bag battery. Apple knows that politicians produce enough hot air to use it as alternative energy to keep it charged.

Samsung missed that goal altogether on their Note 7. I am sure you can find more information on wikileaks.org

Stay safe.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why your phone doesn't hold charge. The battery is about to explode.

The battery is fine. I tested it.

The battery is fine? The battery is swollen to the point of almost breaking the LCD. Replace the battery. Im not sure if this is a joke or youre being serious.

por

The LCD is fine. I tested that too.

por

It's only "fine" when you intend to use the gas inside to fry eggs.

por

Mmm, frying eggs with my iPhone would be a great feature.

The iPhone itself looks in fantastic condition, so it's hard to diagnose.

I would try replacing the back camera lens to be on the safe side.

Can I solder it?

por

If you add a dash of flux, and then apply the lens on top, it should sit flush, and your phone should then power up

I don't know what you guys are talking about. The phone looks fine. Maybe you just need to replace your hand. I hear they're doing great things with prosthetics

I did that recently, I can now replace iPhone screens in less than 60 seconds with the automatic iPhone screen repair mode they installed on my robotic arm!

Even with a battery reading fine I would advise installing a new and known-good battery anyways just to verify. Sometimes a bad battery will give false readings of still being good if there arent a lot of loadcycles on it.
