LCD broken? Customer took home and broke? Dilemma..

I replaced the LCD glass and digitizer for a customer yesterday. Customer arrives tests everything and everything works. LCD works.

Customer takes home and contacts me that LCD is turning on but is disfigured..

What am I supposed to do?

I've seen those before, Here's Your definite 1 of 2 solutions.

A. Make sure that the cable connecting the digitizer to the device is in and secured, as it could be loose, causing the issue.

B. If A Doesn't work, there's something wrong with the digitizer, I'd suggest returning it and buying a brand new one.

That's almost always a loose LCD connector and almost always where the cable connects to the LCD, not the logic board. Take the tape off the connection, clean it out and put it back in. Should work fine after.

Though personally, I think it looks kinda cool.

I fail to see how messed up colours on an LCD have anything to do with a digitizer. Of course, stranger things can happen.

I believe the LCD connector is not seated properly. It may have loosened due to a (minor) fall after the customer left your shop or perhaps the connector was never properly secured to begin with. There is also some "grainyness" to the LCD image. This could be a connection issue as well.

When you get the device back, open it up and verify the connections (make sure to disconnect the battery!). If it still displays false colours, you may have a defective LCD. They are very sensitive and can fail if you handle them incorrectly.

I would most likely need a new digitizer once I open it up though right?

por

Also the digitizer didn't seal properly around the home button causing the home button to not work most of the time.. I did have it pressed for like 2 hours..The adhesive wasn't sticky enough.. will the iFixit part be better?

por

The adhesive that comes pre-applied on digitizers, even iFixit digi's, is not very good. I use adhesives from BowlerTech (am I allowed saying that?). iFixit is also selling nice Tesa Tape Tesa 61395 Tape. It's harder to use because it's not pre-cut but can be more practical to have on hand.

Thank you.

Hopefully I will have the device back today and will open it up and update here.

Thanks again

if you mean what I believe you mean by disfigured then its more then likely a loose cable, nothing to stress over, but before having them comeback in, I suggest asking her to preform a hard reset on the devoice (Home Button+Power button at the same time until you can see the apple logo), and if that doesn't work then check the cables, if nothing seems wrong, purchase another led/digitizer here- iPad 2 Screen Digitizer Assembly

So it's not the Liquid crystal display?

The digitizer could cause this issue in the LCD?

I bought the digitizer from Amazon..

Are the ones on iFixit higher and better in quality and fit?

Do I not need a new LCD?

por

The only site I trust to buy parts from is ifixit, I heavily suggest returning the one from amazon and buying the one that I linked you earlier. I'd suggest getting a whole new front (Glass, digitizer & LCD)
