iPhone 6 Plus stuck in recovery to iTunes mode

I have a small repair store. A customer came yesterday with an iPhone 6 Plus that is stuck when turned on to the restore to itunes screen. I will add pictures shortly. They had tried to fix their own phone, putting a black aftermarket 6 Plus screen on their gold iPhone 6 Plus. I've tried unplugging the battery, putting an original cracked screen and restoring, and restoring without putting any screen on the phone. The battery doesn't look like it's been replaced, and I don't have their original screen. What could be causing this issue? Should I try testing with a new charger port? iTunes says extracting software then gives me an "error 4013" and will not restore and update the phone

I usually find that a new charging port can help fix this issue, It doesn't nee to be installed to do the restore but is advisable to do so if it works.

If the restore status bar isn't starting at all or is stuck at the beginning that iTunes is having a problem communicating with the device.

If, however, the restore starts and status bar gets about half way or longer than kicks out..goes back into recovery than most likely iTunes is having an issue verifying part of the device (such as baseband).

Unfortunately there's too many ways this could be in recovery.

Some suggestions I'd try though is try a new battery, even if theirs looks fine and restore with it installed.

Try a new battery and dock connector and try restoring.

Also make sure iTunes is up to date fully. You can do this by going to help in iTunes, then check for updates.

Doesn't hurt to try another cable also. Hopefully some of this helps.

This phone is probably shot. Do a DFU restore, and then if it doesn't work, He's dead Jim.

This is probably the result of electrostatic damage, because although (maybe) you and (definitely) me have esd safe mats and tweezers and wristbands, this dumb diy-er probably didn't. Huge surges of voltage went where they shouldn't have, and burn microscopic holes in the components. Or check the Liquid stickers. Maybe the tinkerer got it wet. Anyway, too bad. Give it a proper burial... ...at the junkyard

@earldfechterz I don't really understand how that would cause a software issue? Enlighten me but, if the wasn't turning on or something I could Accept that explanation, But the phone is still booting and holding charge
