The ink in question is coming from the waste ink pads in the printer. You can see a partial look at them here, from a printer I tore down for motors that failed:

You can attempt to clean them, but I do not recommend it unless you have no other option due to the mess involved. When these are this full, it's going to be a nightmare. In addition, this is just another inkjet: you have to completely tear the printer down, including print mach removal. The cost of parts (if you can get it, otherwise you need to clean your old pads) which will take hours to complete. Inkjets are disposable, sadly. You're usually better off recycling it and buying another one.

In addition to the mess, the other concern is inkjets often have other issues that crop up later where it isn't worth fixing, often shortly after the original hours+ repair. As sad as it is, inkjets are a disposable affair.
