Problem with icloud account

Hello everyone. I have one strange problem with iphone 5s. I had my iCloud account on phone, and after Changing the sim card it asks for iCloud account that was before i bought phone. I bought it from my friend, so he gave me his mail and password, but phone is not accepting non of those mails, neither mine or friends. When there is no sim in the tray i can use the phone as ipod, and it shows like there is no icloud account on it, but when i insert any sim card it asks my friends account. Can someone please help me?

i would say that since once you insert the SIM card you cannot use the phone, it is most probably the case that the phone is SIM locked to its respective network which is why the phone is trying to activate and cannot because you are not using the right SIM .... i would try unlocking the phone
