Touch is not working after digitizer replacement, tried everything.

Hi there,

I bought an ipad with defective touch. The previous owner replaced the digitizer and ever since the touch won't work. It worked pre-replacement with the broken screen, but now the broken screen also doesn't work anymore. The things I have already tried:

- Tape over the bottom of the digitizer, (but the touch also doesnt work when lifted a bit)

- Visually inspected the connector (no missing golden links detected)

- Refitted the old broken screen, which was working before the replacement (doesn't work anymore)

Is there anything else I can try?

I don't really understand your question. The touch is not working. The display (LCD) is working perfect. Home button also works btw.

Sounds like you need to replace the digitizer if everything else is working. If replacing it still doesn't work, I would recommend checking out the pins on the logic board and make sure that nothing is damaged. One pin missing or bent can cause an entire section of the touch to not work. It can always be fixed though, check out this siteif you need it.

Since I don't know the exact model of your ipad mini, please check out the back so you know which guide to work with. (If you use AT&T; Wireless or T-Mobile, your iPad is on a GSM network. If you use Verizon Wireless, Sprint or U.S. Cellular, your iPad is on a CDMA network.)

Model number (on the back cover):

A1432 on the iPad mini Wi-Fi

A1454 on the iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular

A1455 on the iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular (MM)

Here is the toolkit that you will need.

Also, please be aware that you will need to transfer the home button to the new screen (which needs to be lined up EXACT) and I recommend using polyimide tape on the outer edge of the digitizer to help prevent ghost touching and such.

The digitizer most likely needs to be replaced. Previous owner probably didn't know how to repair the iPad Mini properly.

Bought another digitizer today, resoldered the connector cable to make sure it's done properly. Still nothing. This problem now exceeds my knowledge and I will sell it as is, before I wreck the rest of it. Thank you all for the help, and I wish I could have given the answer for others in the same situation.
