Phone doesn't turn off

My son 18 months old dropped my iPhone into soup bowl.. I was not able to turn on my phone.. But o left it for sometime and it turned on.. And was working normal.. But now I am unable to turn off my phone.. Everytime I turn it off the phone keeps restarting on its own.. I tried to reset my iPhone.. Still it's not resolved.. Phone's software is up to date .. Please help me fix this problem

Thanks in advance!

Interesting, I don't see "new problems" often but thats a new one. I'd suspect a proper cleaning of the phone will clear this up. I suspect that the points on the FPC for the lock button are corroded and shorted or maybe the flex cable still has soup in it. One thing that allowing a phone to dry out after liquid damage doesn't do is remove the damage done while it was wet and does not remove all of the stuff that was in the water it got wet in. You still have dehydrated soup in that phone.

Okie.. the audio was not working either.. I mean i wasn't able to play music from my itunes for a day.. But that also started functioning normally after a day.. So i was of the opinion that my phone was ok.. Probably i will take it to apple store and ask them regarding this issue.. lets see if they have some fix!

Thanks a lot for your reply Bob..

The apple store will tell you to replace it. The Apple store is a good place to buy something, an awful place to take something to be repaired. Don't take it to Apple, take it to a reputable 3rd party repair shop if you're going to take it somewhere.

Literally, Apple store will tell you its old, damaged and cannot be repaired and you must replace it. Don't waste the trip.

HOWEVER, keep in mind that repair is based off of the work that is required, not the value of the device. It may genuinely be time to replace. It does not take long to run up $100 repair fees with water damage. There's really rarely a water damaged phone that leaves our shop repaired for less than $100.

I got this phone in Aug 2012.. Wondering if it's worth spending 100$ for it..
