Why is the top part of my screen multi colored?

I just got this laptop on Christmas and yesterday I open it and I get this weird screen and it just won't go away. I've read a lot of stories about cracked screens and, apple won't help replace them, but mines isn't cracked. I do know that it looks like it is but i am very sure it isn't. I'm still very worried that they won't do anything for mine either. Please help me at least find out what is wrong with it.

It IS cracked, look at the top left.

Sadly you do have a damaged screen.

Often a blow to the lid can cause problems as the damage is hidden. You can prove this to your self by using an external display. If it shows a good image then you know it's the display.

Here is the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow to fix this on your own: MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement, and here is the needed part: MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013 through Early 2015) Display Assembly. As long as you have the correct tools and patience this is not that difficult a job to do.
