Repair the sound from the speakers
TV sound is very poor. Should I replce the sound microphone and if so how do I do this ?

Hi,
Have you checked the 'sound' settings of the TV to see if any adjustment improves the sound quality?
Have you tried connecting the TV to an external speaker system to prove that the TV speakers are the problem?

Have in fact done all that you have suggested. Sound remains poor. I think I have to replace the sound unit in the TV. Are you able to advise on that? I live in a remote area of Zambia and do not have easy access to a skilled technician to do the job for me.
Hi, If the sound is poor (do you mean volume or clarity?) even when listening on external speakers then logically there is a problem with the audio section of the TV. I cannot find a circuit for your TV but I am guessing that the audio section is probably mounted on the mainboard. With the power removed from the TV you may wish to remove the back cover and carefully visually inspect the boards to see if there is anything obvious to be seen, such as blown capacitors, burnt components or loose connections. If you have no experience with electronics I suggest that perhaps you leave it as it is so as to not cause any further problems. If (and I am not sure of this)the audio is mounted on the mainboard replacing the mainboard may solve the problem, however obtaining the board and the cost of it may be another consideration to take into account.
Many thanks jayef. It is in fact the sound quality and not the volume. I appreciate your low tech advice and will have a go at opening the back up to see if I can notice damage as you have suggested.
