Can't find GearVR External Accelerometer, Gyroscope

Can someone, anyone, do a proper teardown of Samsung GearVR Consumer Edition V1 (CV1), released November 2015? There is NO GearVR teardown on ifixit! The only teardown I could find online was a half-finished teardown for a GearVR Innovator Edition on slashgear. I'm looking for the external accelerometer and external gyroscope in the GearVR, can't find them?! Thanks so much!

So there is no official teardown for Samsung / Oculus GearVR Consumer Edition V1 (CV1). There is this debate whether or not there are external accelerometer and gyroscope in this version of the GearVR. Now GearVR CV1 is only compatible with S6 or better phones, which all have high quality 9-axis MEMs sensors in them (3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis magnetometer / compass), so I don't see a need for external accelerometer and gyroscope. But for the life of me I can't find an external motion sensor / MEMs / IMU in the GearVR. I took pictures of all the ICs I could find in the GearVR, I could only find 4.

Besides these 4 chips, there are the 2 USB ports (one to connect to the phone and one for passthrough) and the proximity sensor. I would be so grateful if anyone out there would do a proper teardown and in the process point out where the external sensors are for acceleration and gyration. Or come to the same conclusion that there doesn't appear to be an external motion sensor / MEMs / IMU in the GearVR CV1.

After further investigation it turns out there is an external motion chip, Bosch BMI055, after decrypting "134 P1525 546".

Cool! I was developing an app to use on google cardboard but using my S7 I felt the head tracking too slow compared to Gear VR so I started searching for this reason then I've got here. I didn't know the Gear VR had it's own sensors, which perhaps are way better than the ones on the phone. Nice finding and good job! Thanks!

3d accelerometer and gyroscope on the S6, S7, S8 phone are on par with the sensors in the Gear VR headset. Then why have a redundant pair of sensors? The reason for this is latency. It is so slow to access the sensor data through the Android and kernel layers for Android Marshmallow. It is absurd to actually be faster to access the data of the external sensor than the internal one. Android Nougat demands low latency access to internal sensors, but Nougat is still rolling out. Otherwise if latency was not a concern, the other benefit is the Gear VR subsystem has complete control of its sensors, including their own tweaked firmware on the chip that interfaces with the sensors. Google Daydream headset relies on the phone manufacturer to adhere to the requirements of Nougat for internal sensor to be accessible frequently and with low latency which is a risk.

Solved myself! Eureka it is one (or more) of the UN-GOOGLEABLE ICs on the main GearVR board used for motion tracking! (I tried moving all the ribbon cable ICs, it is definitely an IC on the main board) https://www.dropbox.com/s/ashy93nhvw74mv...
