Do you know if you can access the RAM when it's open or is it buried under the motherboard?

por

Finally i managed to open the ZEN 240IC.

I will be brief now because i am very tired and i managed to snap 1 connector from the ribbon cable.

So to open the PC you need to remove FIRST the small black plastic cover from the bottom of the screen. This will reveal some screws.

In order to do that i used the hair dryer to heat it a bit because the adhesive is quite strong on it.

After i removed that i used 2 suction cups ordered from Ebay to gently pull the top corners of the screen. I used 2 cups, 1 on each corner.

This requires patience as i struggle a bit to be able to pull the top part of the screen.

After the screen is detached you have some cables you need to remove in order to completly remove the screen.

One of the cables was the ribbon one from the motherboard to the screen...this was my luck.

Inside the HDD is clearly visible on the right side and without removing the motherboard there is no trace of another sata slot or PCIE M2 ssd or anything else.

I have just swapped the HDD with a SSD and that was it.

Hope this info is helpful to someone and please take good care when you remove the cables because now for me is a mission trying to get a new one from ASUS or to repair this broke one.

Good luck

V. interesting. I've contacted my reseller and then also ASUS, but both deny any way to open it. While I knew it is possible, they did not teleport the parts inside.

Oh yes please, pretty please :) Some photos or a video of the process would be gold! Even if just an assembly back together. Thank you

Thanks so much! I might actually buy one now. It has such potential to be a great unit. :)

One quick question; Is the RAM accessible? I want to upgrade the hard drive and RAM when I buy one. Thanks!

I have this pc and I want to add RAM to it myself, also where do you get the tool to remove the plastic trim on the bottom like Alredo Fresser did in the YouTube video?? After opening the computer how do you reinstall the black trim under the screen? if you have to get a new trim piece, from where? and if you have to re apply adhesive, what kind?

I believe it's this one - http://www.asusparts.eu/en/Asus-18010-23...

Just check that the part number you have on your screen (from back after you open it) matches.

It's such a nice computer but it was very dissappointing that it was obviously made not to be opened or upgraded.

por

wow, it's expensive!

thank you, I will have to open it again just to be sure.

thanks!
