My laptop has been running for about 6 hours straight, and I was writing a paper when suddenly it just powered off. The laptop is very hot when I feel the touch pad, or the bottom of the laptop.

Your laptop might be overheating due to a few different factors, outlined in the Flex 15 wiki. If these steps fail,replace your fan.
