The Wii U is a video game console paired with a handheld device made by Nintendo that allows users to play games on the GamePad. Repairing the console is straightforward as the device is very modular.

No audio/video on TV

Nintendo stated my device needed repair, but due to it being GameStop (whom won't do anything about it) refurbished, they won't touch it.

Is there any guidance on what may be causeing the problem or how to repair it? I can't justify the $299 for another Wii U as the Xbox One now costs the same.

To clarify, the issue is verified to be the result of a hardware failure. All plausible troubleshooting has been performed. I'm specifically looking for guidance on where I can get the equipment, and what man need to be done, for a DIY hardware repair.

Can you describe the problem better as to what happened when it stopped working and what it does now?

Currently the Wii U shows the blue light, my TV shows its trying to connect, then switches to no signal. This happened randomly a few months ago.

Wii U Gamepad will load options, but there is no audio or video on the T.V.

Sounds like something with the motherboard.

Often times this is the HDMI control chip, but not always! The chip is a panasonic MN864718, although the MN864718A will also do (I have confirmed this by re-chipping it myself with a version A). Hope this helps!

Have you tried plugging the Wii into another HDMI port on the TV and using a different HDMI cable? Hopefully it is a quick fix.

Yes, all troubleshooting has been completed and the issue is verified to be a failure of the hardware.

unless you've gone to TV options and allowed it to hook up to the right settings the you really have done all troubleshooting.

I have no idea how to help you but if you no longer have a warranty then i'd suggest you open it up and mess with $@$* until you know what does what. From there you should look for a cheap seller of a broken one to see if it has all the parts and just swap things out.

Needs to be same model or it won’t work

I'd argue that you could find a CRT on the side of the road and do it that way. The model is just a suggestion after all.
