travel bar for printing not moving, error message

printer cartridges work on a "Travel Bar" and said bar will not move, electric motor not operating, getting error message on top of the printer. scanner works. tried moving it to see if it was jammed, moves easily, new printer cartridges, plastic strips have been removed from cartridges, removed cartridges, wiped with alcohol wipes, no change-still wont work. Should I take to best buy or should I attempt repair?
