looking for a step by step procedure manual to replace cylinder rings

I have low compression in cylinder 3 and believe I need to replace the rings. Also, a diagnostic as identified a "burnt" exhaust valve in that same cylinder. So I'll need to replace that as well. Thank you

Replacing piston rings and an exhaust valve is not for the faint of heart and is by no means an easy repair. If you're not already a pretty good auto mechanic, you should probably not attempt this repair by yourself.

you probably do not need to replace the rings, the burnt valve is the most likely culprit of the low compression in that cylinder. even without replacing piston rings, this is still not a job for the faint of heart or a novice, best guidance i can give, if you are mechanically adept is to buy a haynes repair manual for this specific vehicle (around 20 bucks). I would not even attempt this without at least this bare minimun of info on the vehicle.

if you want to know the real issue with the car before trying to attempt such a big job as this, i recomend you take it to a real shop and have them do a leakdown test.. that might run you $80 but will tell you exactly where the mechanical damage exists.

a properly service engine block that will receive rings, needs to be taken to a machine shop to determine the amount of "warpage" the cylinder's bore has, along with the sleeves alignment. also if there is any kind of physical damage to the cylinder walls, you might need to over bore it requiring new pistons, etc etc

i have rebuilt about 17 Honda Engines from D, B, H series....believe me, doing it right the first time is cruicial... but not as much as rule #1... being SUPER CLEAN during assembly

if i were to guess why you want to do this job is because you go through about 1 qt of oil a week or two? or the engine smokes a lot?

if the engine smokes during deceleration, then the valve seals are also bad since it will leak under high vacumm.

If it is the cylinder rings, a temporary band-aid could also be running thicker viscosity oil. It wont totally solve the issue, but could help with the consumption of oil.
