Is there another solution for that problem meanwhile? I have the exact same issue with my 13” Retina MacBook Pro from Mid 2014. When it’s cold on startup the screen is flickering. After a few minutes it stops.

I mean, is there any solution, to stop that flickering on startup, even when its cold? Except for replacing the display for 350-400€?

I have this exact same problem with the exact same model. Did you ever find a solution? I am considering replacing the LCD, but don't want to do it quite yet. Please let me know if you solved it.

The same problem. Please write back if you've solved this/

I had to replace entire screen. The problem just kept getting worse. It was expensive but fixed the problem.

I have the same problem and it’s the retina display temp not the processor temp. If you record the flickering screen with quicktime then play it back when the screen has warmed up, no flicker!

I affixed a piece of neoprene foam rubber to the back of the display and max out the brightness for 10 mins. It acts as an insulator and the screen warms up quicker.

Somehow the LCD froze up when starting my PC. Took it down to the Apple Stores ran all sort of diagnostic check all passed. Its the cold weather every time I start its froze and clears out about 5 mins. Went to Fiji south Pacific for 2 weeks it works every day when I was there weather was warm and average 85 deg. Got back to Seattle it back to same thing again. So Ive been warm it next to my stove and it clears up right away. My Imac Pro 13" only 11 months old.

Like i posted earlier there a program name TG pro. You can run you processor fan manually so thats can warmup your computer and les 15 min. Instead put u computer next to. An heater or oven ! The battery can explode! Buy the program and solve that problem thats the only way i solve it

My Acer Aspire V3-572G started doing this about 4 years ago after the fan failed while gaming. Didn’t really notice it for a while other than when It was really cold, because it heated up fast with no fan. Also, the GPU is further away from the heatsink than the CPU, so it got hotter quicker. Once I purchased a new fan a few years back the lines on the screen stayed for longer and longer because the fan was keeping the GPU cool. I use this computer for school and it is very annoying, as it lasts about half an hour, and when unplugged it uses less power to save battery = less heat.

About the battery saver, when unplugged, the laptop switches from 840M to integrated graphics, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

I think it is a cracked solder joint on the chip, and I checked the internal cable connector but it was fine. Flexing the entire keyboard or the screen makes no difference. The lines do not appear on an external monitor, so I am on the fence whether it is a monitor or GPU issue.

Yes, the laptop is 7 years old, and i think it needs to retire. (writing this from the laptop)
